A fatal shooting by police last week at a Newark hotel was the year’s 10th entry on California’s list of AB 1506 investigations, and an 11th was added on Sunday. The legislation, which took effect in July 2021, requires the state’s Department of Justice to investigate all fatal shootings by law enforcement officers in which the person killed is apparently unarmed. There are now 40 incidents on the list, with nine from the last half of 2021 and 20 from 2022. Final reports have been issued for only two, both determining that no criminal charges against the officers were warranted.Besides the Newark case, the list has three from the Bay Area: a man shot by Antioch police in 2021 after a standoff at his house; a man shot in 2022 at San Francisco International Airport; and the fatal shooting by San Francisco police in 2022 of two men who were fighting.AB 1506 investigations so far in 2023:1/ Samuel Arredondo, shot Jan. 11, 2023, by San Bernardino County sheriff’s de...Best Bitcoin Casino Sites: Updated List of the Top Bitcoin Casinos Ranked by BTC Games, Bonuses, and More

When Xander Benitez learned that Blackpink was headlining the Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival this year the decision for him and two friends to travel from their small town near Sarasota, Florida was a simple one.“It’s insane,” Benitez, 21, said. “The first K-pop headliner at Coachella? Hello!”He, Jony Leyva, 21, and Edward Sebastian, 31, were easy to spot on the festival grounds on Saturday, April 15, the first of Blackpink’s two weekends there. Like many fans of the K-pop girl group, they’d taken Blackpink literally when it came picking their outfits for the day.“It’s a phenomenon,” Sebastian said of the emergence in recent years not just of K-Pop artists such as Blackpink and BTS, the latter of which could easily headline Coachella some day, but of Asian artists in general. Blackpink will be back to headline the second weekend of the Coachella on Saturday, April 22 and announced a tour stop at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Aug. 26.Blackpink fans Jenny Zhou, left, and ...Traffic signal blocks roadway after crash in San Jose

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel’s president appealed for national unity as the country marked the beginning of Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday after months of mass protests that have roiled the nation. Yom Hashoah, the day Israel observes as a memorial for the 6 million Jews killed by Nazi Germany and its allies in the Holocaust, is one of the most solemn dates on the country’s calendar. Official observances began after sundown on Monday with a ceremony at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem. Six survivors, including one of the few remaining survivors of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, lit torches for the memory of the six million killed in the Holocaust.Speaking at the ceremony, President Isaac Herzog called on participants in the more than three months of weekly protests against the government’s plan to overhaul the judiciary to lay their differences aside during the coming week of national mourning. “Let us leave these sacred days, which begin tonight and end...Latest news
