Frosty Start, Milder Finish

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 14:05:15 GMT

Back to back chilly starts across the region as this morning is once again near/below freezing for many locations outside of Boston. While it’s not quite as cold across MetroWest as yesterday morning, it’s a colder start across Southeast Mass, where the first hard freeze is felt for parts of the Cape and Islands. The Vineyard hit 23 degrees overnight! The chill fades fast as highs head for the mid to upper 50s this afternoon under a mix of sun and clouds. The breeze picks up the pace a bit too, gusting 15-25mph. Overall, it’ll be a seasonable early November day. Temps fade back to near 40 tonight, and with the milder start to tomorrow morning, it’ll be a milder weekend overall. Highs near 60 on Saturday and Sunday with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Despite the extra clouds at times, the weekend looks mainly dry and that’ll bode well for the tee times, ball fields, yard work and any other outdoor activities you have planned. Clocks go back 1hr on Sunda...

Carluccio is the president judge on the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. McCaffery is a state Superior Court judge. The two are competing to replace Max Baer, the former chief justice who died in 2022.The Court has a 4-2 Democratic majority, so the outcome of this race will not determine partisan control. But the seat could help Democrats or Republicans keep or gain control of the court when the next elections are held in 2025. In the meantime, he new justice could break any 3-3 ties on election-related cases that come up in the 2024 presidential campaign, in which Pennsylvania will be a hotly contested battleground. The husband of Norway’s former prime minister Erna Solberg will not face investigation over his stock trading during her two terms in office, Norwegian police announced Friday, saying it had found no indications that he had benefited from inside information. Solberg, who was prime minister from 2013 to 2021, has faced intense political and media pressure because of the trading of her husband, Sindre Finnes, who made more than 3,600 share deals.Pål K. Lønseth, head of Norway’s economic crime unit, known by its Norwegian name Oekokrim, said its task had been to assess whether Finnes had gotten inside information from “either from Solberg or other sources, and whether there is evidence that he has used such information in his investments.”“We have found no indications of that,” Lønseth said. Solberg, who has led Norway’s center-right party Hoeyre since 2004, has repeatedly said she wants to be the conservative prime ministerial candidate at the 2025 general election. However, it ...
